Our offices are located in the financial district of downtown San Francisco, near the Montgomery Street Bart and Muni stations.

Responsibilities:

• Administer production DB instances (all PostgreSQL).
• Administer pre-production DB instances.
• Be on- call rotation (2nd level, supports operations first responders).
• Work with operations to scale production DB instances and surrounding.

Requirements:

• Production, HA, scalable RDBMS Administration experience at still-existing company.
• Unix, preferably Linux experience.
• Shell or perl scripting experience.
• SQL authoring and tuning experience.
• Experience within or interacting with operations teams.
• Experience within or interacting with product development teams.
• Applied knowledge of DBA best practices and concepts.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Great sense of humor, particularly during production crises.

Preferred:

• If no PostgreSQL experience available, qualified candidate must possess production experience in at least 2 other RDBMSs, one of which must be Oracle.
• Software Engineering experience .
• Application level architectural experience .
• DB scripting (PL/pgSQL) .
• Object/relational modeling .
• JDBC .
