As a Senior Software Engineer in Core Architecture at hi5, you are familiar with distributed software systems such as Hadoop/Pig/HBase, MapReduce/Sawzall/Bigtable, Zeroc's Ice, and Facebook's Thrift (and how to build an SOA architecture using them). Additionally, you have read Amazon's Dynamo paper and can identify where and how to apply it to Web 2.0 high-volume architectures.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implementation of the foundations of hi5's Service-oriented architecture
• Design and implementation of core services such as distributed file systems and communications mechanisms
• Developing Software frameworks that leverage RPC mechanisms such as Ice or Thrift
• Work with other team members to educate them on SOA migration path for existing products

Requirements:

• Experience with Framework development or large open-source project experience.
• Proven track record of building large-scale distributed applications and architectures.
• Expert knowledge developing and debugging Java, Python, or C/C++ on *nix
• Experience with operating system internals, filesystems, programming language design, compilers, distributed systems, or server architectures

Preferred:

• M.S. Computer Science or related field
