The Role: Software Engineer - Localization
As a Software Engineer for Localization at hi5, your activities will include production support for hi5’s languages, managing localizable content, troubleshooting localization issues, supporting community-based translations, and providing localization guidance to product development teams.
Responsibilities:
· Production support for maintaining hi5’s language assets
· Software development to enhance hi5’s language delivery
· Maintaining products to support community-based translations
· Spreading knowledge of i18n best practices to other engineers
· Supporting and extending hi5’s localization efforts for hi5’s social networking application
· interacting with translation vendors
· interacting with OpenSocial developers and hi5’s Localization, Quality Assurance, and Product Engineering teams
In addition, you'll have the standard responsibilities of a Senior Software Engineer, including
· Design and code high-volume software primarily using Java
· Implement web interfaces using XHTML, CSS, and Javascript
Requirements:
· 2 years experience developing web applications on Java platforms
· BS or equivalent experience in Computer Science or other technical field.
· Excellent debugging, problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Highly motivated and interested in being part of a talented & small team
· Good oral and written communication skills
Preferred:
· Experience with multi-language web development and localization
· Experience with AJAX, Struts, iBatis, and high-volume Java-based web applications
· Fluency in a second language a plus.
· Strong working knowledge of Linux, Apache and SQL a plus
